Leo Buring (1876–1961) was a pivotal figure in Australian winemaking, renowned for elevating the profile of Riesling. Born in South Australia to German immigrants, he excelled in oenology at Roseworthy Agricultural College and furthered his studies in Germany and France. Buring managed several prominent wineries, including Minchinbury and Lindeman’s, before establishing his own label in 1931. His dedication to quality Riesling production set a benchmark in the industry.
