A new series from The World’s 50 Best Restaurants called 50 Best Explores has decided to travel to Thailand with some of the World’s Best Chefs in order to explore the local cuisine and ingredients.
The chefs attending this journey are: Joan Roca, Chef-owner of El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, No.1 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list; Ashley Palmer-Watts, Executive Chef of Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London, No.7 on the list; and Peter Gilmore, Chef-owner of Quay in Sydney, No.58 in the world ranking.
Over the course of this journey, the chefs have visited the Royal Project, belonging to the King of Thailand situated in the North in the search of the gastronomic richness that is from Thailand’s world famous cuisine.
These international chefs have been accompanied by leading chefs from Thailand Chef Bongkoch ‘Bee’ Satongun of Paste Gaysorn, Bangkok, Chef Nan Bunyasaranand of Little Beast, Bangkok, Chef Chumpol Jangprai, Iron Chef of Thailand, and Chef Nooror Somany Steppe of The Blue Elephant.
At the end of this successful and educational journey for the chefs, a Gala Dinner has been hosted on Friday 4th March at the Blue Elephant in Bangkok, managed over by Chef-owner Nooror Somany Steppe.
This event was a start studded event with attendance from big names in the culinary world both internationally and locally.
With an aperitif starting at 18.00 pm, guests enjoy some of the freshly prepared appetizers while drinking the sparkling wine from Antinori, the Santa Cristina Brut. This sparkling wine is made from the traditional Franciacorta method from Italy with a value for money price imported by Italasia Trading (Thailand) Co., Ltd. With the aperitif underway, guests then enjoy the gala dinner where the food is prepared by the chefs visiting Thailand by using the techniques they have learned over the course of their journey by using local ingredients.
